Style tip?  Since quirky hats are the focal point of your outfit, keep the rest of the outfit simple and in the same color family.

What do you think?  Would you wear a quirky hat?  And if so, with what?  Share your thoughts in the comments!

Fall 2008 Fashion Week Trend: Floor Length Dresses

Style tip?  Dark colors are most figure flattering, but why not try a column of color?  The monochromatic floor length dress will give you a long, lean look, regardless of hue.

Style tip?
Keep whites squeaky clean by scotchguarding the fabric before wearing it.

Style tip?  An overtly sexy item, fishnets are best worn with garments that are somewhat more conservative.  Fishnets + Skintight Minidress = Not Stylish.

Style tip?
Draw attention to your fabulous face
(or camouflage a small bust) with a tie-neck blouse.

Style tip?
Purple continues its reign over the catwalk this season.  Go bright (like Abaete) or dress in a more muted shade (like Oscar de la Renta).  Purple pairs wonderfully with a splash of yellow–or chocolatey browns.

What do you think?  Would you wear the color purple?  And if so, with what?  Share your thoughts in the comments!

Fall 2008 Fashion Week Trend: Double Breasted Jackets

Double Breasted Jackets at Oscar de la Renta, Charles Nolan, and Rag & Bone.

Style tip?  For the longest, leanest look, single breasted jackets are best.  Double breasted jackets add visual width (but also a dash of style), so pick a jacket with strong vertical elements for the most figure flattering look.

Style tip?  Grey dominated the runways for Fall 2007, but Chocolate Brown appears to be making a resurgence.  We love the look of Chocolate Brown with pastel color–for spring and for fall.

Fall 2008 Fashion Week Trend: T-Strap Shoes

T-Strap Shoes at United Bamboo, Rag & Bone, and Verrier.

Style tip?  T-Strap shoes were popularized in the 1920s and 1930s, and they’re still tempting us today.  Because the strap is so high up on the foot, they can visually truncate the leg, making your legs look (slightly) shorter than they are.  But if you’re game, there’s a t-strap shoe for every occasion, from a casual picnic in the park to a glamourous evening out on the town.

Style tip?  Headbands are all the rage, and you can find some pretty nifty styles at great prices.  The only downside is that an uncomfortable (read: too tight) headband can give you a headache.   Check out our Q&A about How to Wear a Headband for headband tips and tricks…and where to find a comfortable one.
