Omiru’s take: There’s no question that Sweater Jackets are in.  But now we can ask ourselves what type to wear.  Short or long, chunky or delicately knit?  Short sweater jackets work well for the petite, but then again, there’s a casual elegance to a 3/4 length.  Chunky sweater jackets have a kind of ski-week charm, but a delicately knit jacket can blend right in at work.

Next Question: One of New York Fashion Week’s biggest accessory trends was the re-emergence of Thick Frame Glasses.  But what do You think?

Omiru’s take: We’re fans of Colorful Accessories ourselves, so we couldn’t be happier. Why do we love them so much?  Versatility!  Which could you wear more often–a big bright yellow jacket, or a pair of fire engine red gloves?  We’d hazard to guess that the gloves would blend better into your wardrobe as well.

Omiru Poll Results: 80s Fashion is On the Way Out

We asked: Is 80s Fashion In or Out?

You said:  The 80s called, and they want their clothes back.  Nearly as many people voted 80s Fashion Out (30%) as In (34%).

Omiru’s take: True–the 80s did give us more than their share of fashion mishaps.  Think giant shoulderpads and the parachute pant (eek).  But that doesn’t mean that we should throw out the baby with the bathwater.  Gold lamé, in moderation, can provide sparkle to an otherwise ordinary evening outfit.  And off-the-shoulder tops can beautifully counterbalance narrow pants.

Omiru’s Fall 2007 Womenswear Trend Roundup

Hello, retro.  For Fall 2007, the silhouette slimmed down–way down–as designers reached into the archives for inspiration.  The excess layering and embellishment of seasons past gave way to tailored, more refined looks with a distinct edge.
