We asked: Is Hot Pink In or Out?
You said: Hot Pink is Out–or at least, On the Way Out. A whopping 46% voted this color Out, and another 16% cast their ballot for On the Way Out.
Omiru’s take: Seems that while bright colors are In this season, pink’s not getting the love. While pink isn’t the new black, you’re all for cobalt blue and bright yellow. Probably for the best. Style tip? If you dare to wear Hot Pink, skip the Pink-on-Black combination–it’s a little too Hot Topic for our taste. Instead, complement the bright pink hue with a low-key grey.
Next Question: We asked you last year what you thought about Oversized Sunglasses–and you voted them On the Way Out. Now, a year later, we’re checking in to see what you think of them now. Tell us, are Oversized Sunglasses In, or are they Out? Cast your vote

We asked: Are Dropped Waist Dresses In or Out?
You said: Dropped Waist Dresses are In. A 55% majority are all for this 20s-inspired dress trend.
Omiru’s take: Bring this 1920s dress into the 2000s with bright colors or modern detailing, like pockets. (We can’t get enough of dresses with pockets!) And go easy on the sequins and beading found on so many flapper style dresses.
Style tip? While Dropped Waist Dresses are flattering on those with long legs, they’re much less kind to long waisted women with short legs. The style visually lengthens the torso–and makes legs look shorter.
Next Question: We’ve reported on bright colors as a key trend for Spring 2007–and we’ve been seeing more and more Hot Pink out on the streets. But what do you think? Tell us, is Hot Pink In, or is it Out? Cast your vote on the sidebar!

We asked: Are Suspenders In or Out?
You said: Suspenders are Out. A 71% majority voted this questionable trend Out.
Omiru’s take: While suspenders are fine for old-school suit-wearing men, they’re less appealing elsewhere. We’re glad to see that you’re unafraid to vote an unflattering trend Out. No style tip this week–we’d prefer that you leave the suspenders back on the shelf where they belong.
Next Question: Dropped Waist Dresses (such as the dress pictured at left) played a key role at Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2007 fashion show. But what do you think? Tell us, are Dropped Waist Dresses In, or are they Out? Cast your vote on the sidebar!

We asked: Are Ruffles In or Out?
You said: Ruffles are In. A 59% majority voted this feminine trend In.
Omiru’s take: We’re with you on ruffles–they’re a nice feminine counterpart to the menswear as womenswear trend. And for a decorative trend, they’re rather functional. You can soften up a work shirt with a row or two of ruffles. And they’re great for adding volume to a flat chest. Plus, they can turn an ordinary dress into something dramatic.
Style tip? Match the size of the ruffle to your proportions. If you’re petite, choose smaller ruffles.

We asked: Are Skinny Jeans In or Out?
You said: On the way out. Only 44% voted skinny jeans In, and the remaining 56% majority voted it either Out or On the Way Out.
Omiru’s take: For a trend that poses so many figure flattery problems, skinny jeans have had amazing staying power–even if it has been on the "On the Way Out" side of the trend cycle for the majority of that time. A year ago, in April 2006, 53% of you voted skinny jeans Out or On the Way Out. With statistics like that, we would expect this trend to be fully Out a year later. Not so.
If you do decide to wear Skinny Jeans, our style tip for you today is Grey Denim. It’s a departure from the standard blue jeans, and it’s perfect for Spring.
As for us, we’ve moved on to Wide Trouser Jeans.
Next Question: Our friends at The It Lists reported on Ruffles as a new IT trend for Spring. But what do you think?

We asked: Are Minidresses In or Out?
You said: Overwhelmingly, In–with a 70% majority.
Omiru’s take: Dresses (and Ballet Flats) are the IT Items for Spring–so your enthusiasm over minidresses isn’t a huge surprise. For those of you who can pull off the mini length, there’s nothing more refreshing than pairing the dress with a pair of kitten heels or cute flats. (Style Tip: Higher heels and a minidress can be overkill.) But the rest of us don’t have to miss out on this trend. Try wearing your minidress with a pair of tights (Style Tip: Darker tights visually slim your legs.)–or even a pair of pants.
Next Question: Back in April 2006, we asked you what you thought of Skinny Jeans (you said In, but barely). Now, a year later, we’re asking you again.

We asked: Are Ballet Flats In or Out?
You said: Totally In. Ballet Flats were declared "In" by an impressive 88%.
Omiru’s take:
What’s not to love about these versatile, easy-to-wear shoes? They’re equally at home paired with a flowy spring dress on the weekend as they are with a smart cardigan and skirt at work. It’s easy to slip a pair of black ballet flats into your shoe closet. But maybe it’s too easy. In the spirit of expanding your style horizons, we challenge you to step outside of your shoe comfort zone and pick up a pair of ballet flats in an unexpected color. Bright yellow? Cobalt blue? A cool seafoam, perhaps?
