Omiru’s take: While metallic fashion is more fitting during the holiday season, there’s no need to put it away once you take the tinsel down. But take the advice of our friends at Couture in the City–skip the head-to-toe shiny getups and opt for metallics in moderation. Be aware, though, that the shiny nature of metallic fashions tends to add pounds, so apply the shine liberally. The safest bet? Metallic accessories. Try a pair of silver heels–or a burnished gold handbag.

We asked: Are Wide Trouser Jeans In or Out?
You said: Three cheers for Wide Trouser Jeans! A 75% majority are all for this looser, more figure flattering style.
Omiru’s take: We had a hunch that Wide Trouser Jeans were ready to steal the spotlight away from the skinny jeans popularized by leggy actresses and models. Given their flattering silhouette and forgiving shape, we’re celebrating their rise in popularity. Style tip? We’d recommend balancing these jeans with more form-fitting tops to achieve the classic small-over-big silhouette.

You said: We’re divided. While "In" got 46% of the vote, "Out" got almost as much support (37%).
Omiru’s take: We appreciate that Charm Bracelets, much like Cufflinks for men, allow you to express a little bit more about yourself. Tennis fan? Show your sporting spirit with a mini tennis racquet. Oenophile? Reveal your love of wine with a tiny wine bottle charm. That said, they’re seen in some circles as kitschy. Our verdict: this is a jewelry trend that’s more fun than fundamental, so spend accordingly.

Omiru’s take: We’re sweet on Bright Yellow to cheer up an otherwise humdrum outfit. Got a pair of grey slacks and a white button-down for work? Add a Bright Yellow sweater or overcoat to the mix. You said: We heart hairbands! A whopping 75% majority is sweet on this celeb favorite.
Omiru’s take: For party or for play, hairbands are a chic alternative to the standard ponytail (yawn). For a fresh-faced, girl-next-door look, dress up a sweater-and-jeans combo, or add some sparkle to a cocktail dress with a hairband. Just choose a hairband that complements not only your hair color but also your outfit. Our favorite pairings? For blondes, we like turquoise. Brunettes, a pale robin’s egg blue. For redheads, a deep green. And for black hair, choose a bright jewel tone, such as emerald.

Omiru’s take: For a thoroughly modern and completely ladylike look, you can’t go wrong with a bow adorned dress. Our advice? Choose a dress with a bow appropriately sized for your body type. If you’re petite, for example, opt for a small sized bow.

We asked: Are Ugg Boots In or Out?

Down on Uggs! 65% voted Uggs Out, and another 16% believe they’re On the Way Out. Only 19% are in favor of these much-detested fluffy boots.
Omiru’s take: When it comes to the LA-esque Uggs-with-a-miniskirt look, we wholeheartedly agree with you. Talk about temperature dyslexia! However, you can wear your Uggs and have your style too. Just pair the boots (we suggest the Milano Boot, pictured left) with an appropriate winter outfit–long pants, a sweater, and a cute jacket, perhaps?

We asked: Are Shorts as Eveningwear In or Out?
You said: Totally Out! 68% voted Shorts as Eveningwear Out, while only 18% cast their ballot towards "In." And the remaining 14% believe this trend is On the Way Out.
Omiru’s take: We agree wholeheartedly. While this look may appear appealing on the runway, it leaves much to be desired off the catwalk. And you can forget about wearing Shorts as Eveningwear at the Office Holiday Party! We urge you to leave your shorts where they belong: hanging in your closet until Spring.
