Omiru Poll Results: Thick Frame Glasses are In!

Omiru Poll Result: Thick Frame Glasses are In!

Thick Frame Sunglasses at Forever 21We asked: Are Thick Frame Glasses In or Out?

You said:  Yes!  A 67% majority voted them In.

Omiru’s take: Style icons are unafraid to make a statement–so it’s no wonder that so many adorn themselves with Thick Frame Glasses (think Jackie O.).  And what better place to make a statement than on your face.  Style tip?  Match the boldness of your facial features with the thickness of your glasses.  Those with delicate facial features will look best in at most medium-thick glasses frames.  But those with bold facial features can up the drama with thicker frames.

Next Question: Now that we’re nearing shorts weather, we want to ask you about another variety of cropped pant (that was all over Copenhagen Fashion Week): the Capri Pant.  But what do You think?

Copenhagen Fashion Week Fall 2007 Trend Roundup

Fall 2007 in Scandinavia is all about feminine fabrics and details.  Satin, silk, and sheer fabrics are combined with oodles of lace, ruffles and bows.  Silhouettes tended towards the voluminous but are controlled through the use of belts, cinching and cuffs.  Dark, subdued tones rule the runway complementing the usual suspects of black, white and gray.

Omiru Poll Results: Sweater Jackets are In!

Omiru Poll Result: Sweater Jackets are In!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Nicolette SweaterWe asked: Are Sweater Jackets In or Out?

You said:  Bring on the Sweater Jackets–a full 69% voted them In.

Omiru’s take: There’s no question that Sweater Jackets are in.  But now we can ask ourselves what type to wear.  Short or long, chunky or delicately knit?  Short sweater jackets work well for the petite, but then again, there’s a casual elegance to a 3/4 length.  Chunky sweater jackets have a kind of ski-week charm, but a delicately knit jacket can blend right in at work.

Next Question: One of New York Fashion Week’s biggest accessory trends was the re-emergence of Thick Frame Glasses.  But what do You think?

Omiru Poll Result: Colorful Accessories are IN!

Weatherly Watch CapWe asked: Are Colorful Accessories In or Out?

You said:  Colorful Accessories are In!  A whopping 84% gave Colorful Accessories two thumbs up.

Omiru’s take: We’re fans of Colorful Accessories ourselves, so we couldn’t be happier. Why do we love them so much?  Versatility!  Which could you wear more often–a big bright yellow jacket, or a pair of fire engine red gloves?  We’d hazard to guess that the gloves would blend better into your wardrobe as well.

Next Question: Remember how sweater jackets were all the rage in 2001?  Fashion Week resurrected them, for both men and women.  But what do You think?   Tell us, are Sweater Jackets In, or are they Out?  Cast your vote on the sidebar!

Omiru Poll Results: 80s Fashion is On the Way Out

Omiru Poll Result: 80s Fashion is On the Way Out

Grey Ant Slash TopWe asked: Is 80s Fashion In or Out?

You said:  The 80s called, and they want their clothes back.  Nearly as many people voted 80s Fashion Out (30%) as In (34%).

Omiru’s take: True–the 80s did give us more than their share of fashion mishaps.  Think giant shoulderpads and the parachute pant (eek).  But that doesn’t mean that we should throw out the baby with the bathwater.
Gold lamé, in moderation, can provide sparkle to an otherwise ordinary evening outfit.  And off-the-shoulder tops can beautifully counterbalance narrow pants.

Next Question: Colorful accessories lit up the runways at Marc Jacobs and Duckie Brown.  But what do You think?   Tell us, are Colorful Accessories In, or are they Out?  Cast your vote on the sidebar!

Omiru’s Fall 2007 Womenswear Trend Roundup

Hello, retro.  For Fall 2007, the silhouette slimmed down–way down–as designers reached into the archives for inspiration.  The excess layering and embellishment of seasons past gave way to tailored, more refined looks with a distinct edge.
