Omiru Poll Results: Colorful Accessories are IN!

Omiru Poll Result: Colorful Accessories are IN!

Weatherly Watch CapWe asked: Are Colorful Accessories In or Out?

You said:  Colorful Accessories are In!  A whopping 84% gave Colorful Accessories two thumbs up.

Omiru’s take: We’re fans of Colorful Accessories ourselves, so we couldn’t be happier. Why do we love them so much?  Versatility!  Which could you wear more often–a big bright yellow jacket, or a pair of fire engine red gloves?  We’d hazard to guess that the gloves would blend better into your wardrobe as well.

Next Question: Remember how sweater jackets were all the rage in 2001?  Fashion Week resurrected them, for both men and women.  But what do You think?   Tell us, are Sweater Jackets In, or are they Out?  Cast your vote on the sidebar!

Omiru Poll Results: 80s Fashion is On the Way Out

Omiru Poll Result: 80s Fashion is On the Way Out

Grey Ant Slash TopWe asked: Is 80s Fashion In or Out?

You said:  The 80s called, and they want their clothes back.  Nearly as many people voted 80s Fashion Out (30%) as In (34%).

Omiru’s take: True–the 80s did give us more than their share of fashion mishaps.  Think giant shoulderpads and the parachute pant (eek).  But that doesn’t mean that we should throw out the baby with the bathwater.
Gold lamé, in moderation, can provide sparkle to an otherwise ordinary evening outfit.  And off-the-shoulder tops can beautifully counterbalance narrow pants.

Next Question: Colorful accessories lit up the runways at Marc Jacobs and Duckie Brown.  But what do You think?   Tell us, are Colorful Accessories In, or are they Out?  Cast your vote on the sidebar!

Hello, retro.  For Fall 2007, the silhouette slimmed down–way down–as designers reached into the archives for inspiration.  The excess layering and embellishment of seasons past gave way to tailored, more refined looks with a distinct edge.

Omiru Poll Results: Metallic Fashion is In!

Omiru Poll Result: Metallic Fashion is In!

DKNY Metallic All Weather Trench CoatWe asked: Is Metallic Fashion (e.g. Gold and Silver) In or Out?

You said:  Metallic fashion is in, but it’s a trend, not a classic.  49% voted metallic fashion In, but 21% voted it Out.

Omiru’s take: While metallic fashion is more fitting during the holiday season, there’s no need to put it away once you take the tinsel down.  But take the advice of our friends at Couture in the City–skip the head-to-toe shiny getups and opt for metallics in moderation.  Be aware, though, that the shiny nature of metallic fashions tends to add pounds, so apply the shine liberally.  The safest bet?  Metallic accessories.  Try a pair of silver heels–or a burnished gold handbag.

Next Question: 80s Fashion was all over Fashion Week–think off-the-shoulder tops, gold lamé, and high-waisted jeans.  But what do You think?   Tell us, is 80s Fashion In, or is it Out?  Cast your vote on the sidebar!

Omiru Poll Results: Wide Trouser Jeans are IN!

Omiru Poll Result: Wide Trouser Jeans are In!

Wardrobe Wide Leg Stretch Denim PantWe asked: Are Wide Trouser Jeans In or Out?

You said:  Three cheers for Wide Trouser Jeans!  A 75% majority are all for this looser, more figure flattering style.

Omiru’s take: We had a hunch that Wide Trouser Jeans were ready to steal the spotlight away from the skinny jeans popularized by leggy actresses and models.  Given their flattering silhouette and forgiving shape, we’re celebrating their rise in popularity.  Style tip?  We’d recommend balancing these jeans with more form-fitting tops to achieve the classic small-over-big silhouette.

Next Question: Our friends at Couture in the City recently ran an article about shiny celebrity style mishaps.  Says Wendy O. of Couture in the City, "The tinsel is off of the tree and the ball has long dropped in Times Square…so lets put away the shiny stuff until next holiday season."  But
what do You think?   Tell us, is Metallic Fashion In, or is it
Out?  Cast your vote on the sidebar!
