Says designer Alessandra Lopez-Kiely of the inspiration behind the doll, "We kicked, whined and screamed [about] the crazy festivals/lectures/exhibits my mother dragged us to as kids. But now we’re blessed with a very rich appreciation for many different cultures." Her brother Kiko and her both love ninja movies (and even the really old Jackie Chan movies).
Fun fact about Alessandra? She was born the year of the monkey, which explains her love of the silly. She loves creating products that make people (especially adults) giggle!
Thanks, Julie, for the tip!

When a few fellow indie designers had suggested coming together to create a unique campaign for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Jen of Juniper Designs quickly jumped on board – what resulted was Indie For Awareness. Jen created the Hope necklace specifically for this campaign, choosing the keyhole design for it’s overtly feminine connotations and the rose quartz for its healing properties as well as its hue!
Fun fact about Jen? She sips tea every afternoon in a delicate little cup while rocking to the likes of the Ramones and Sex Pistols!
Until the end of October, 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this necklace will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Foundation.

While sorting white pieces of silk, lace, and satin, designer Krista Raak noticed how many different shades of white there are. Inspired, she set out to create a wearable composition of these pearly shades.
Her "Blanca" sash looks sweet with a simple outfit, complementing white or cream details and adding a hint of romance and femininity. She’s worn her personal "Donna" with jeans and a vintage white crochet top. Krista also recommends pairing the sash with a 1920s inspired ivory colored dress.
Krista has always loved crafting, taking items from "dull" to "beautiful. Case in point: When she was twelve, she was inspired to paint her white shoes to make them more "Interesting." Krista had finished three pairs of shoes before she called her mom to introduce her to this great new shoe collection, at which point she went from shoe designer to shoe scrubber.

Designer Kate Seavey conceived of her fabulous Holly bag while completing a last-minute addition to a series of sketches for a design class in college. She created the bag late one night in preparation for a presentation the next morning, and it was a hit! Kate’s good friend Holly placed the first order (of many!), and the Holly bag was born.
As versatile as it is stylish, the Holly bag can be worn casually, with a tee shirt and jeans to a Saturday afternoon matinee, or formally, with a cocktail dress while going out for drinks that same evening. For added versatility, you can choose your own fabric colors for your Holly bag–making the bag truly one of a kind!
Quirky and fun, Kate’s the kind of person we would want to invite to a dinner party. In her own words: "All of the other kids wanted to be doctors or firefighters when they grew up. I wanted to be a mermaid."

Designer Katherine Babin loves creating jewelry with vintage finds, like this Clef de Coeur key. She’s curious about the key’s mysterious past, wondering what it was made to open–a door, a jewelry box, a hope chest, a diary?
Allow the Clef de Coeur to unlock the door to your imagination. Throw it on with some jeans and a tee for a more casual look or even a funky dress to balance out the femininity of the piece.
Fun fact about Katherine? She was in an after school special type video about anti-inhalants when she was twelve years old. Her big line: "No thanks, I don’t do stuff like that. It sounds sort of dangerous." To this day, her sisters won’t let her live that one down.

The design inspiration behind the best-selling Candy Green Ring was really more of a shape exploration. The simplicity of the ring combined with the unique vibrant color found in chrysophase has created a real winner.
The green ring lends itself well to neutrals–greys, khakis, browns, and of course, white.
Fun fact about Claudette? She doesn’t wear prints…and avoids them like the plague. She’s an accessories girl who leans towards solid basic pieces that she can dress up with fun belts, colorful jewelry, and unique shoes and handbags.
