Color theory 101 says that opposite colors attract, but it doesn’t take theory to know that black effortlessly elevates a look. We took a playful look based upon a purple and yellow color pairing, and we instantly made it more glamourous with a few choice accessories in noir.
1. Start building the look with a pair of colors opposite each other on the color wheel: a bright yellow pair of denim pants paired with a lilac purple oxford shirt.
2. Colorblocking is especially lovely when done subtly - so slip on a grey cropped sweater (the echoed colorblocking at the hem - an extra plus). That way, your lilac purple collar will pop out from the grey sweater, giving the look just a touch of purple.
3. Finish off the look with three key accessories in black - a statement necklace with a ribbon tie (to echo the closure on the sweater), a structured shopper bag, and a pair of colorblocked ankle booties.
