Style tip? Want a color that’s not so basic? Try teal, a sophisticated mix of blue and green. As befits its roots, pair teal with blues and greens for best effect. We’re especially loving the navy and teal combo, as seen at Lacoste.

Style tip? With all that’s happening in the world, people are staying in and cocooning. But you can stay cozy when going out in a cocoon coat. The blousy shape isn’t particularly flattering, but the volume is definitely dramatic. As seen on the runway, wear your cocoon coat with thin pants, tights, or leggings for a big-over-small look.

Style tip? Black’s not a new cold weather color. But it seems that black is the new black for Fall 2009. The good news is that you can wear basic black without being too basic. Just mix your blacks up with different textures - shiny and matte, knits with wovens, sheers with opaques.

Style tip? Zippers are traditionally used to get in and out of your clothes. But they’re also an edgy way to embellish your clothes. Use them to your advantage by drawing attention to where you want a spotlight. Love your waistline? Draw attention there with zipper details. Bonus style tip? Vertical zippers will give you the longest, leanest look.
