Spring 2009 Fashion Week Trend: The Oversized Vest
September 8th, 2008
Style tip? This season’s vest is oversized instead of cropped. While the shrunken vests hit you at the waist, these oversized vests reach down to your hip. They’re great for elongating your torso if you’re shortwaisted (e.g. have a short torso and long legs). Wear an oversized vest if you’re looking to add an instant dash of polish to your outfit.
What do you think? Would you wear this season’s oversized vest? Share your thoughts in the comments!

I can see the potential in the DKNY ensemble, but the other two pair the vest with things that aren”t very appealing. I’m more of a fan of the hip length cardigan cinched with a skinny belt… I’d rather that than the oversized vest… but maybe my preference is “so last year”?

I would say that the oversized vest is harder to wear than the skinny, shrunken one. A shrunken vest tends to make your legs look longer, while the oversized, hip-length vest tends to make your legs (and you) look shorter.
Personally, I would wear the shrunken vest before donning the oversized vest too

The over sized vest looks cool in certain outfits, but its not a versatile or appealing (to me) enough trend for me to want to spend money on it.

This one isn’t for me. I’m not fond of vests anyway- I wore too many in the 80’s (or was it 90’s??). I still have a cool leather vests from one of those decades… maybe I’ll try it out again to see how I feel.

i went throught the short vest trend in junior high, so i have a difficult time returning to it. however. long vests are similar to tunics in that they hide some junk you may want hidden. love my long black vest.
