Don’t take this homage to the Rolling Stones literally or you’ll be the laughing stock of your circle. Instead, take key pieces – the t-shirt and the blazer (in a different color) – and make your own more wearable version that will translate better on the streets.

We’re pleased to announce that Omiru is welcoming two editorial interns to our team. Please give a warm welcome to Dino-Ray Ramos and Melody Nazarian!
In their own words…
Dino: I am a freelance, storytelling writer with a specialty in style and entertainment. As a pop culture junkie, I am always exploring fashion- what’s hot, what’s not and what should be banned from retail stores everywhere. From haute couture to ready-to-wear, I have this viewpoint of style that is slanted, yet professional. I am a family-taught amateur designer that is constantly curious with the industry. Whether or not I am the best amateur designer, I thoroughly enjoy writing about fashion - from the obscure to the big time; I aggressively explore everything to stay on top of the fashion game.
Melody: While most kids my age were watching Saturday morning cartoons in the third grade, I opted for Fashion File with Tim Blanks. Although I have no formal fashion education, I have a naturally keen eye for style and can spot fakers (translation: those who try to be trendy but either overdo it or don’t even get close) from miles away. When I wear funky outfits (which is more often than not), I’ve been told, “Only you would be able to pull that off.â€

We recently came across this amethyst necklace, designed and made by Kelly Meeker. Gorgeous design, beautiful craftsmanship.
Even better, you don’t have to worry about showing up somewhere wearing (god forbid) the same piece of jewelry. Kelly’s designs are produced in extremely limited quantities and are handcrafted by the designer herself. While you’re at Kelly’s site, check out her other designs, many of which are on sale. We’ve got our eye on the Faceted Garnet & White Freshwater Pearl Cluster Earrings, on sale for $44.
The icing on the cake? Kelly was kind enough to offer a
10% additional discount to Omiru readers. When you check out, enter OMIRU in the
notes section to get your discount!
$95 at Kelly Meeker Designs.

Last December, we featured a particularly posh sweater from Anthropologie that mysteriously disappeared off the face of the earth (ok, fine, their website) early the next week. While browsing the online aisles this evening, however, we found it again!
Back by popular demand is the Copenhagen Cardigan, in a new, but perhaps not improved color. Enjoy!

Last weekend, Omiru attended a fashion show and anti-violence rally produced by P.A.R.T.I. Squad, or Positive Alternative Recreational Teambuilding Impacting Program. Known for cultural diversity training and mentoring programs, P.A.R.T.I. Squad dedicated the evening to the memory of Irwin Dillon, a P.A.R.T.I. Squad volunteer who lost his life while reportedly trying to break up a fight last December.
The style of the night was unmistakably Urban. Common
themes throughout the show included halter tops, deeply draped
necklines, and miniskirts. Silhouettes were generally body-conscious
and tightly clung to the models’ curves. Colors, like that of the Spring 2006 collections, tended to be neutral, with forays into bright turquoises, blues, greens, and oranges.
Designers featured in the show included Felix Harris (Minoca), Latoya Skinner (Chan.nel Karama), Cynser (Baysik Clothin’ Co), Nikki D Vine (L.I.P. - Live in Peace), Keana Dollar (High MaintNance), Vladimir Ulyashin (Body Wear by Nina), Dominique Giselle (Giselle), and Osofo Clothing store. Our friend, designer Goldie Chan of goldiechan clothing headlined the show.
"The spirit and dedication behind the show was truly noble. I’m glad to have been a part of it," said Chan.

Having been hot on the fashion scene for the last few seasons, skinny ties are nothing new. We even saw them on Matt Dillon (Crash) and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (Elvis) at the Golden Globes on Monday.
Nevertheless, we appreciate their innate geek chic quality, and so we present to you a few of our favorites beyond the classic black:
For a bit of whimsy: Skinny Floral Tie | $59.50 at Banana Republic
Love stripes? Cambridge Fairfield Repp-Stripe Skinny Tie | $39.50 at J Crew
Feeling prep-school chic? Collegiate Cambridge Skinny Tie | $39.50 at J Crew
