February 2012 Lookbook: Monochromatically Fabulous
February 13th, 2012
This look is part of Omiru’s February 2012 Lookbook series, which builds upon our 16-Piece February 2012 Capsule Wardrobe. See more information about this look.
I’m not a tall girl, but I’d like to pretend I am. So I do whatever I can to visually add height - add high heels, think vertical lines, and avoid anything that visually widens me. I also like to, where possible, dress (nearly) monochromatically do give myself a long, lean line. But keeping your look in the same color family doesn’t have to look repetitive. All you have to do is mix it up with texture to give your look a whole new dimension. Here’s how to get the look:
1. Start by mixing matte with shiny: a black drapey matte silk tank paired with a sequinned skirt in a beautiful bluish grey.
2. Echo the blue of the skirt with a smart looking navy blue blazer.
3. Add two more textures with your handbag and shoes: a quilted leather texture with your handbag and a shiny leather finish on your booties. (Yes, those booties feature a bit of a heel - all the better to give you an extra few inches.)
4. Grab your sunglasses and go.
