Fall 2010 Fashion Week Trend: Shorts

Fall 2010 Fashion Week Trend: Shorts

Style tip?  We’ve got another fashion trend that you don’t have to wait to wear.  Shorts are huge for Spring, and they’ll be just as relevant come Fall (just in thicker fabrics, of course).  How to wear shorts in cooler temperatures?  Pair them with boots, tights, or high socks to keep your legs covered.  If you have great legs, you can manage the short shorts (as seen at Tracy Reese and Charlotte Ronson), but an easier silhouette to wear is the knee-length short.  Look for cuffed knee-length shorts for a fresh Fall/Winter look.

What do you think?  How would you wear shorts?  Share your thoughts in the comments!

YES, I love shorts with tights and boots. This has been my favorite fashion week trend so far– I love all the cold weather fabrics, like suede, leather, and tweed, that they’ve been working into the shorts.

Love the trend. But as for me, although long shorts are definitely more appropriate in the workplace, it is very hard to find long shorts which suit well. But I did it ! :)) I’ve just bought dark grey wool cuffed knee-length shorts which suit me perfectly and I am happy that they will be in fashion.
I love to wear shorts and minis during autumn and winter because you can cover your legs with thick tights or tall boots.

Not a fan. I’m in Southern California so this wouldn’t really work here.

Sorry, but those of us in actual cold climates have more sense. Leg frostbite really doesn’t have a lot of appeal when you consider swimsuit season coming up in a few months. :)

Nadia, it makes more sense than you’d expect…I live in Michigan and I’ve pulled off winter shorts even in December! I wore thick leggings and knee-length boots, and I wear a coat that goes down to mid-thigh.
As long as you don’t have to go outside for too long it’s just fine. I’d bet you overestimate how much time you have to spend in the cold, so it’s a lot easier than you think to wear styles like this :)

Are they Serious? High leather warm boots. Ok. But when it is 20 below are you really going to expose anything? And stop pushing those ugly ugg short boots. They make you look like little boy boots. I want a chunky heel that hugs the ice and snow. Warm inside please. Yes, with those heels you would look so cool falling on the subway floor in your fancy shorts. Come on!!

I love this look. I live in South Florida and last winter we had 4 months of cooler weather where this style would be perfect. My biggest problem is finding a nice winter fabric in an appropriate length. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

@shelli, you’re getting a little upset about these shorts don’t you think? I live in NYC and I personally adore the concept of shorts in the fall and early winter. I love my winter shorts more than I do my summer shorts. Shorts and tights offer you the same warmth that wearing a skirt or dress in the winter offers.
