You Said: Yes to Long Strap Handbags

We asked: Would you wear Long Strap Handbags?
You said: Yes to Long Strap Handbags, with a 60% to 40% vote.
Style tip? The beauty of the Long Strap Handbag is that you can wear it cross-body, leaving your hands free as you make your way through the day. We love juxtaposing the structured long strap handbag against a flowy dress - a mix of the tailored and the romantic. Mix things up even more with a pair of gladiator sandals to add a bit of toughness to the look.
Next question: We’re stocking up on Spring and Summer dresses and wanted to get your opinion on the floor length Maxi Dress. Very 1970s, but they’ve made a comeback in the last few years. Would you wear the Maxi Dress? Cast your vote on the sidebar!
NOTE: Seems that our poll has had some technical difficulties today - if you were unable to vote today, please try again. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I should never get rid of stuff. I used to have a lot of these bags in the 90’s. Then the style changed to the short handled bags you tuck under your armpit. Now the long straps are back?
Sigh.

Goes to show that fashion is cyclical. But then again, what goes around comes back around in a slightly different form – so it’s often not worth keeping stuff around, unless it’s super high quality.

I LOVE cross-body bags. I live in Toronto and I spend most of my time trekking the city on my feet. Long-strapped bags allow me to place the bag across the body and be hands free – I can walk or dash off (and chase the streetcar) easily.
I also find most purses to be annoyingly “cumbersome” (not sure this is the right word). I don’t like how they slip off my shoulders or I keep having to clutch onto them just so they don’t fall off.
I don’t see a lot of cross-body bags that are more like “purses” as opposed to “messenger bags”… Where can I get these online?

Cross-body bags are just about the only type of purse I use, even when they are not in fashion. Honestly, I just can’t bother with keeping track of some cumbersome bag. If it isn’t a long-strap bag, I’m far to likely to set it down somewhere and walk away without it.

How timely! I just bought my first leather cross-body bag as a birthday gift to myself in June! http://www.thesak.com/Silverlake_Leather_Flap/pd/np/208/p/1028.html
