Fall 2009 Fashion Week Trend: Chunky Knits
February 19th, 2009
Style tip? Beware of the volumizing power of chunky knits; they can make even the trimmest of models look like she ate too much for dinner. The best way to wear chunky knits is to acknowledge their volume and pair them with more figure conforming clothing. If you have a chunky knit sweater, for example, pair it with skinny pants, tights, or drapey trousers (as in the Nanette Lepore and Luca Luca examples).
What do you think? Would you wear chunky knits? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Sparingly … though that Luca Luca … er, capelet I think looks so perfectly elegant …I might have to consider deploying chunky knits more often.

I would love to try this look. It’s a bit difficult for me to find the right pieces though, being petite.

Even though you’re petite, you can make chunky knits work. Darker colors tend to work better, and keep the cable-knits to a minimum (perhaps as an accent design, not as an all-over pattern). Worse comes to worse, a chunky knit scarf is a lovely way to add texture to a winter outfit.

Thank you for the advice Trisha!
