The Belt
If you have a defined waistline, belts draw attention to
your thinnest point. And if you don’t, belts help create the illusion
of a waist.

The Color Purple
Quietly bold, there’s a shade of purple to fit every complexion.

I really like that coat with the oversized collar in the middle picture.
Question: I really like the dress with tights and high-heeled boots ensemble in winter. Do you think it would work well with flat boots? I’m about 5’7” – 5’8”. Will my legs look short?

I really like the oversized collar thing, but purple fo Spring? I think it looks better for summer.
I cant see wearing an evening dress with pockets, but more for a casual look.

Love that Peter Som look too, Gen.
As for your question, a dress with tights and flat boots can work–you just need to choose your proportions correctly. If you are short waisted (and have long legs in proportion to your torso), then you’re going to be fine with most boot choices. But if you’re long waisted (and have short legs in proportion to your torso), then you’re going to want to make your legs look as long as possible. Here’s how to do this:
(1) Keep the color of the tights and boots in the same color family. This will help to create a long, unbroken line for the eye, which makes you look taller.
(2) As for the height of the boot, a just-below-the-knee boot is nearly universally figure flattering. A ankle boot (or bootie) is also a popular choice this season. The most figure flattering length for ankle boots is just below or just above the ankle–if you choose a boot that ends at the ankle, it makes your ankle and leg look wider than they actually are.
Hope that helps, Gen!

Purple for Spring works too–but perhaps in lighter shades. Lilac was also seen on the runway. You know, I thought the same thing about dresses with pockets at first too. Great for casualwear, not as good for eveningwear. But I found a great navy pinstriped strapless cocktail dress with pockets and an ever-so-slight bubble hem. The pockets are barely visible on the dress–but they’re a dream come true. Dresses with pockets can work for eveningwear too–but they need to be designed in a sleeker way than for casualwear.

Evening dresses with pockets? Ewwwww! I bust my hump looking for PANTS without pockets, and now they want to stick us with more pockets? They can go suck worms.
