Spring 2010 Fashion Week Trend: Elegant Bows
September 15th, 2009
Style tip? Bows aren’t just for little girls - they’re all grown up (and quite elegantly crafted) on the Spring 2010 runways. Use a bow to cinch your waistline, as at Erin Fetherston. Do as Carolina Herrera does and draw attention towards your face with a bow that recalls the silhouette of a necklace. Or build a bow into the architecture of a blouse or skirt, as Lela Rose does.
What do you think? How would you wear elegant bows? Share your thoughts in the comments!

I think bows are just awesome, especially when they’re tied into the piece really well, like on the first jacket (that’s just awesome). But I also loved the trend last year of the secretary shirts with the bows near the neck. The key, I’d say, is making sure the bow isn’t too large and looks like it belongs there.

I’d wear that entire Lela Rose ensemble in a heartbeat. But big bows overall? No thanks.

Loving the Erin Fetherson!
In general, though, I’m not the biggest fan of bows… Maybe because I don’t do “cute” very much. I do like very loose bows though!

Bows just make everything more feminine. I even love using little bow-ties for accessories (in theory, I still haven’t been able to tie one myself to wear it, unfortunately). I love it on headbands or on necklaces. Just a little touch, big ones seem to overwhelm my small frame.

I use a wide grosgrain ribbon tied in a small bow as a belt
