Fall 2009 Fashion Week Trend: Ladylike Glamour
February 20th, 2009
Style tip? Maybe it’s the effect of the depressed economy, maybe it’s the influence of elegant Michelle Obama–but restrained, ladylike fashion is fully in style. So don your gloves, pull on a polished skirt suit, or slip into a sophisticated ball gown.
What do you think? Would you wear ladylike glamour? Share your thoughts in the comments!

I love it! I’ve been really excited by the gorgeous, ladylike dresses that are becoming so popular. I love the blue skirt on the Luca Luca model and the entire DKNY outfit. The dress by Lhuillier although beautiful is a little too much for me (even at a ball!).

i also think it’s because of Mad Men’s style! i totally recognize Betty Draper’s influence on these models! so glamorous.

I looooove the Luca Luca outfit, but the DKNY outfit looks super frumpy.

Love the Luca Lucca outfit…the dress is overdone – forget the sleeves and Monique might have a winner.

I would wear it if I knew the best way to pull it off. I would love to wear it everyday, but its not so realistic when you trek back and forth to classes with a messanger bag.

You can evoke the essence of Ladylike Glamour without donning silks and pearls. Instead of going Glam head to toe, try one or two items. For instance, buy a ladylike coat like the black one featured in the leftmost picture. Instead of wearing it with a pencil skirt, tights, and heels, try it with a pair of dark rinse jeans and a day blouse. You can even try wearing a brooch to give your outfit an extra spark of Ladylike Glamour.
