Fall 2009 Fashion Week Trend: Cocoon Coats
February 18th, 2009
Style tip? With all that’s happening in the world, people are staying in and cocooning. But you can stay cozy when going out in a cocoon coat. The blousy shape isn’t particularly flattering, but the volume is definitely dramatic. As seen on the runway, wear your cocoon coat with thin pants, tights, or leggings for a big-over-small look.
What do you think? Would you wear a cocoon coat? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Such a cool look, but just don’t think I could pull this one off!

I have a cocoon coat from Madewell and I absolutely love it!

I love these coats, but short or three quarter length sleeves are impractical in the fall and winter in places where the temperature drops below 50F.

What body type do you think this is best on? Do you have to be tall? I’m always looking for ways to camouflage my midsection; I think my legs are thinner. I don’t know if this is too much though…

It’s tough to wear a 3/4 length cocoon coat without having a good amount of height to offset the width. Try an a-line shape instead; this will skim over your midsection and showcase your thin legs.
